1.) REUNITING WITH FRIENDS
The Virginia Tech Black Alumni Reunion is a special weekend where you have the opportunity to reconnect with great friends as well as form new and lasting relationships. Whether you are a recent alumni or a seasoned trailblazer you will meet new people across various years and leave with a new sense of community. Throughout the weekend there will be numerous networking, social, and entertainment events for everyone, culminating a weekend to remember.
Join alumni from across the country who will take part in the reunion. Nearly 400 people have already registered and we are four months away. Don’t miss out on our biggest reunion yet! (April 21-24, 2016).

During the Black Alumni Reunion there will be networking events for students and alumni that will allow you to interact with fellow Hokies who are doing great professionally in their fields. Whether you are seeking opportunities in a different career path or looking to enhance your networking skills this event will offer great benefits to you. There will be hundreds of alumni attending the reunion from all over the country who could help you land your next dream job!
3.) REUNION SOCIALS (HIGHLIGHT, ATHLETIC REUNION IN LANE)
The reunion will kick off Thursday April 21st with the BCC 25th Anniversary Celebration reception. Weekend highlights include the Hilcrest, Nuf, and Cochrane Reunion and reception which will feature a panel of former alumni athletes discussing their time at Virginia Tech and their path to current careers. Following the panel there will be a party inside the Lane Stadium South End Zone, DJ’ed by a former alumni athlete. All alumni are welcome. Party with legends of lane and beyond.
4.) ANNIVERSARY MILESTONES:
The 2016 Black Alumni reunion marks the 50th anniversary of black women graduating from Virginia Tech and the 25th anniversary of the BCC. There will be special events commemorating these excellent milestones. You don’t want to miss the once in a life opportunity to pay homage to the trailblazers who came before. It is important to celebrate legends while they are still here. Join us at the 2016 reunion to celebrate the silver and gold legacy.
5) SPRING GAME AND TAILGATE:
For the first time the Black Alumni Reunion will take place during Spring Game weekend! There will be a tailgate right before kick off hosted by black alumni! Registering for the reunion covers food and drinks that will be provided at the tailgate. Fellowship before seeing VT’s newest coach in action.
6) Discounted Hotel Registration:
Registering for the reunion now gives you access to discounted hotel rates. Since the reunion will be held during Spring Game weekend amongst nearly ten other events hotel rates will be high and rare to find. 7.) Black Alumni Awards:
During the reunion we will celebrate outstanding black alumni at a formal awards ceremony. This is the perfect opportunity to acknowledge the achievements of our black alumni who have made a difference! Categories include: Athlete of the Year, Outstanding Recent Alum, Educator of the Year, and many more. 8) Black Alumni Gala/Ball
Following the Black Alumni Awards there will be a formal gala for black alumni to celebrate and dance the night away to our achievements. A DJ will be on hand as well as a band for a special jazz lounge. Get your dresses and tuxes ready for an elegant evening with VT greats.
9) Alumni Sports (Golf and Basketball Tournament)
Did you used to ball out in War Memorial or McComas during your undergrad years in intramural or just with your friends and want to show that you still have it? Have you been perfecting your swing on the golf course and want to hit the green with fellow Hokies? Well the reunion is for you! Did you know there was an endowed scholarship for incoming freshman given by Virginia Tech black alumni? The Virginia Tech Black Alumni Endowed Scholarship fund was created in 2010 to help underrepresented students receive a top notch education.
It may be tempting to just show up in Blacksburg, but by formally registering you are contributing to the next generation of black Hokies and their success.
